The Library Service needs to reduce its budget by £300,000 and they proposed to do this in a number of ways, including reducing the Mobile Library Service by taking out the least well used stops. The Mobile Library Service currently visits 345 stops across Hampshire.
There was a three month consultation on these proposals, following which, it was proposed to end the Mobile Library Service at 98 stops, including Braishfield. The recommendations for changes to the Library Service, including those for the Mobile Library Service, were approved by the Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside on 16 September 2014. Braishfield will cease to have a visit by a mobile library from 1st January 2015.
