With only one month to go until our native song birds start making their nests in our garden hedgerows we need to take action during February to ensure that all our hedges and trees are cut back before March. You may have seen Local Authority and the Highways Agency busy the last few weeks cutting back footpaths and hedges along roadsides in your local neighbourhood. Every year Country Watch has been involved in educating, warning and prosecuting businesses and residents about destroying or damaging nesting bird habitats between March and August.
With dwindling numbers of British song birds let us all make an effort to encourage our native birds to thrive and reproduce this year by ensuring they have the best possible start.
