Every English Parish has a parish meeting, known as the Annual Parish Assembly (also called the Annual Parish Meeting). It is a meeting of electors, chaired by the Chairman of the Parish Council.
The parish meeting may, by law, discuss all parish affairs and pass resolutions about them although the resolutions may not be binding upon the Parish Council. Generally, community groups and a representative from Hampshire Constabulary are invited to speak or report to the meeting; the Parish Council, Test Valley Borough Councillor and Hampshire County Councillor will report to the meeting; and there is often a speaker on a topic of local interest.
Minutes
This page contains links to the available minutes for the annual parish meetings. Annual parish meeting minutes are not available for all years since the inception of the parish council in 1951 and in some years the only reference to the annual meeting is within the parish council meeting minutes, in which case the relevant extract is published here.
From 2015 onwards, the Annual Parish Meeting has been called the Annual Parish Assembly. This name change was made in order to avoid confusion with the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, which often takes place on the same day.
